Webinar on “Water Borne Diseases-Prevention & Symptoms
Waterborne diseases are conditions caused by microscopic organisms, like viruses and bacteria, that are ingested through contaminated water. Theses disease can be spread while bathing, washing, drinking, or by eating food exposed to contaminated water. Some of the most common water borne diseases in India are Jaundice, diarrhoea, typhoid, hepatitis A and others. While diarrhoea and vomiting are the most reported symptoms of waterborne illness, other symptoms can include skin, ear, respiratory, or eye problems. Diarrhoea being the second leading cause of death for children under the age of five, causing more childhood deaths than malaria, AIDS, and measles combined. According to World Health Organisation, every year more than 3.4 million people die as a result of water related diseases, making it the leading cause of disease and death around the world.
